It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Education is the chief function of the Scouting movement. The Boy Scout program is designed to achieve objectives in character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness. In all activities, emphasis is placed on practicing the principles found in the Tiger Cub Promise, the Cub Scout Promise, the Scout Oath and Law, and the Venturing Oath. With strong adult leadership, members are guided to develop the traits of character, self-reliance, consideration of and help to others, personal courage, and above all, citizenship.
